Features to know about

Free Up Truck Bed Space: Converts 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Connection

Switching from a fifth wheel hitch to this gooseneck-style pin box clears up your truck bed when you’re not towing. The Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box replaces the factory Lippert Rhino box and connects directly to a 2-5/16" ball. Rated for 24,000 lbs towing and a 2,500–4,500 lb pin weight, it keeps your setup strong while freeing you from bulky hitch hardware.

Smooth Out Every Mile: Built-In Torsion Shock Absorption

Diagram of a torsion axle suspension system showing axle tube, torsion arms, and rubber cords used to absorb road shock, illustrating how trailer torsion axles function and provide a smooth ride.Close-up diagram of the Gen-Y Executive fifth-wheel pin box showing labeled components, heavy-duty construction, and shock-absorbing design for smoother towing performance.

This pin box uses an internal torsion system to dampen rough motion between the trailer and truck. Steel inner bars twist inside rubber-cabled tubes to absorb jarring road shock and fore-and-aft chucking. The result is a steadier ride that reduces bounce and limits impact transfer both ways—without any air bags to maintain or small parts to replace.

Simple Hookup Every Time: Auto-Latch Coupler and Release Cable

Hitching doesn’t get easier than this. The auto-latch design locks onto the ball the moment it seats in the coupler—no climbing into the bed or wrestling with handles. When it’s time to unhook, just pull the included release cable routed up your trailer frame to disengage the latch from outside the bed.

Heavy-Duty Build That Lasts: Steel Construction with Protective Finish

Close-up of Gen-Y adjustable drop hitch with dual ball mount and black powder-coated steel construction, showing multiple height adjustment holes for heavy-duty towing.

The Gen-Y box is built from heavy-duty steel and finished with a durable powder coat that resists wear and corrosion. It bolts on using your existing hardware, so installation is straightforward with no extra parts or modifications needed.

Designed for the Right Fit: Lippert Rhino Replacement with Balanced Range

Created specifically to replace Lippert Rhino pin boxes, this model’s 24K GTW and 4.5K TW rating give it the correct capacity for mid-to-heavy fifth wheels within that weight range. Keeping your pin weight within spec ensures the torsion absorption works as intended for safer, smoother towing mile after mile.

1 year and about 5,000mi. later, Im still very happy with my GenY. Pulling my 5th wheel is so smooth. Ive been down some rough dirt roads but with this hitch I hardly felt the bumps. Chugging is almost nonexistent to the point where one could almost imagine that our freeways are as good as new. Lol Even after a 12hour haul my back is still happy. For me, the GenY is definitely a great addition, and my truck bed is still usable.

by:

My hitch arrived earlier than expected and the process was excellent. I haven't gotten it put on yet but will on Monday. So far it's good to have good people from e-trailer living up to their promises. I'll continue to go back again and again.

by:

I would recommend that to everybody no chucking no problems at all

by:

No denying the gooseneck pin box is stout. But I was a little disappointed in the quality control. Mine showed up on a pallet without a box and it was FULL of welding slag beads that ended up all over my driveway , it also had been sitting against the gooseneck ball mount box and has a few wear spots. Sucks to have wear marks/ scratches on a brand new $1700 hitch.

by:

Love this hitch! I’ve never pulled a 5th wheel before so I don’t have a comparison. However, the Gen Y hitch tows very smoothly with very little chucking… if any. It took a few hookups to learn the process but now it is SO easy to hook up/unhook.
Also, working with Lauren was easy and reassuring as far as getting what was needed, when it was needed.

by:

Great hitch got everything to do change out, customer service was great

by:

Very good service. Delivered on time. Great experience.

That is great to hear, and it looks great installed! What trailer did you install this on?

by:

I believe the hitch is okay but this is how it arrived.

by:

Shipping was fast and packaged well. Installed on 2025 Brinkley Z3100 going on 2022 Ram 3500 SRW short bed. Used a Curt multi-fit goose ball into factory puck system.
With Gen Y mounted in top most Rhino box hole (see photo). I have about 10.5” of bed rail clearance and turn almost 90 degrees.
Only took a short 50 mile test ride down a know bucking road. The ride is very much improved and should get better with a good break in trip.
BTW I thought I could buy grade 8 bolts locally, but they ended up more expensive than the ones etrailer sells.

by:

This was advertised as used but it looked brand new to me. Estes took a while on the shipping. It arrived 50 miles from my house and was delivered 6 days later. Great product though. Campers should just come with these and skip the 5th wheels

by:

The flexibility definitely reduces bounce and rattle. Watching it from the rear view mirror, I can see that it's working. I think it's worth the $1,000 upgrade from the fixed Nomad hitch. Now I have to decide whether or not to buy the $99 warranty on the flex components. With the condition of these roads , It's getting a lot of action.

  • How Much Does The MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box MR84VR Weigh?
The MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box # MR84VR weighs right at 190 pounds. Due to this, it will ship freight. Just in case you needed, this is designed to fit 14,000 to 18,000 pound trailers with the Lippert 1621 and 1621HD pin boxes.

  • 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter for 2007 Dutchmen RV Colorado 32QB
The Gen-Y Hitch 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box like the # GY98GR you looked at is a great option for converting your 5th wheel to a gooseneck. However, unless you have a tapered nose you won't be able to make those 90 degree turns. If you still want to go this route the correct pin box is determined by using the formula GVWR x .22 = TW. Since your GVWR is 12,192 lbs that comes out to 2,682 lbs so you need a 4,500 lb tongue weight model. You can choose from the following based on the pin...

So right this second it may not be official but hopefully here pretty soon. For what it's worth we haven't had any frame issues with the Gen-Y adapter or the Goose Box.

Thanks for the picture and information Charles! The Gen-Y Hitch Nomad item # GY37ND and item # GY33GR will indeed replace the factory Rhino pin box on your Grand Design. The difference between the Gen-Y Hitch Nomad item # GY37ND and the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY33GR is all about comfort and convenience. The Nomad is as basic as you can get. It has a SnapLatch coupler system, which automatically locks when lowered onto the hitch ball. There is...

  • Correct Gen-Y Hitch 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box for 2024 Brinkley Z2900
Thanks for providing that information it really makes this simple. To find the right Gen-Y we need to calculate your tongue weight using the formula GVWR x 0.22 = TW. The Z2900 has a GVWR of 14,495 lbs so the TW is 3,189 lbs. Based on this calculation you need the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box - Lippert Rhino - 24K GTW - 4.5K TW # GY33GR.

Hey Roger, welcome back! I can give you the measurements for the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY33GR but I can't answer your question with the information I have available. If you look at the diagram attached below of the Gen-Y item # GY33GR you'll see that the connection to the gooseneck ball is 21.1" below the top mounting bolts. The connection point is going to be 13.5" forward of the outer most top mounting hole. There's no way to adjust these measurements...

  • Can I Use a Convert-A-Ball Gooseneck Adapter on a Curt Helux Shock-Absorbing 5th Wheel Pin Box?
Hey Crystal, that's going to be a no. Curt has said their Helux Shock-Absorbing 5th Wheel Pin Box like item # C83RJ is not compatible with gooseneck adapters like the Convert-A-Ball item # CAB-C5G. Their reason being it puts additional stress on the 5th wheel trailer's frame and using an adapter will void the frame warranty. I know this is probably inconvenient but if you're swapping over to a Gen-Y gooseneck adapter like item # GY33GR the best way is to do it at the location you pick...
